Narrative:

Was flying a photo mission around dallas, tx. At the time of this situation I was in contact with regional approach control who assigned me a vector of 210 degrees and an altitude of 2500 ft MSL. While flying this course at this altitude the controller advised me of regional jet traffic at my 10 O'clock position, 2 mi, then told me to report if in sight. I called the regional jet traffic 'in sight.' this rj was converging right at us on an intersecting course. After my 'traffic in sight' reply, the controller assigned me to contact the next approach controller on the next frequency. As soon as I immediately contacted the next approach controller the rj now appeared to be within or inside 1 mi. I contacted the approach controller, told him I had the converging rj in sight, and asked him what he wanted me to do. He replied with 'it's not what I want you to do, but what would you like to do?' I replied with 'I want out of his way!' at this point I was still on my assigned heading 210 degrees at 2500 ft MSL. The rj who was now at my 9 O'clock position, appeared to be within 1/2 mi or closer, and coming right at us, had now appeared to make a right hand turn to go behind us. I contacted approach asking him what to do. He replied to maintain current heading and at or below current altitude (2500 ft MSL). There was nothing further said or brought up about this situation. I personally believe the controller was wrong by putting me on what appeared to be a collision course with an airliner on approach into runway 31R at dfw. Then I think it was not safe for him to not give me any avoidance instructions and hand me off to a new controller while inside a mi on a collision course with a jetliner. This was bad judgement on the controller's behalf. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated he had just completed a photo mission at a location near runway 31R and was being vectored to a second location when the incident with the erj occurred. He said the erj appeared to be descending through 2500 ft and turned away at the last second.

Title: C152 PLT ON A PHOTO MISSION NEAR DFW BEING VECTORED BY D10 APCH IN CLASS B AIRSPACE HAS A CLOSE ENCOUNTER WITH AN ERJ LNDG RWY 31R AT DFW.

Narrative: WAS FLYING A PHOTO MISSION AROUND DALLAS, TX. AT THE TIME OF THIS SIT I WAS IN CONTACT WITH REGIONAL APCH CTL WHO ASSIGNED ME A VECTOR OF 210 DEGS AND AN ALT OF 2500 FT MSL. WHILE FLYING THIS COURSE AT THIS ALT THE CTLR ADVISED ME OF REGIONAL JET TFC AT MY 10 O'CLOCK POS, 2 MI, THEN TOLD ME TO RPT IF IN SIGHT. I CALLED THE REGIONAL JET TFC 'IN SIGHT.' THIS RJ WAS CONVERGING RIGHT AT US ON AN INTERSECTING COURSE. AFTER MY 'TFC IN SIGHT' REPLY, THE CTLR ASSIGNED ME TO CONTACT THE NEXT APCH CTLR ON THE NEXT FREQ. AS SOON AS I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE NEXT APCH CTLR THE RJ NOW APPEARED TO BE WITHIN OR INSIDE 1 MI. I CONTACTED THE APCH CTLR, TOLD HIM I HAD THE CONVERGING RJ IN SIGHT, AND ASKED HIM WHAT HE WANTED ME TO DO. HE REPLIED WITH 'IT'S NOT WHAT I WANT YOU TO DO, BUT WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO?' I REPLIED WITH 'I WANT OUT OF HIS WAY!' AT THIS POINT I WAS STILL ON MY ASSIGNED HDG 210 DEGS AT 2500 FT MSL. THE RJ WHO WAS NOW AT MY 9 O'CLOCK POS, APPEARED TO BE WITHIN 1/2 MI OR CLOSER, AND COMING RIGHT AT US, HAD NOW APPEARED TO MAKE A R HAND TURN TO GO BEHIND US. I CONTACTED APCH ASKING HIM WHAT TO DO. HE REPLIED TO MAINTAIN CURRENT HDG AND AT OR BELOW CURRENT ALT (2500 FT MSL). THERE WAS NOTHING FURTHER SAID OR BROUGHT UP ABOUT THIS SIT. I PERSONALLY BELIEVE THE CTLR WAS WRONG BY PUTTING ME ON WHAT APPEARED TO BE A COLLISION COURSE WITH AN AIRLINER ON APCH INTO RWY 31R AT DFW. THEN I THINK IT WAS NOT SAFE FOR HIM TO NOT GIVE ME ANY AVOIDANCE INSTRUCTIONS AND HAND ME OFF TO A NEW CTLR WHILE INSIDE A MI ON A COLLISION COURSE WITH A JETLINER. THIS WAS BAD JUDGEMENT ON THE CTLR'S BEHALF. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED HE HAD JUST COMPLETED A PHOTO MISSION AT A LOCATION NEAR RWY 31R AND WAS BEING VECTORED TO A SECOND LOCATION WHEN THE INCIDENT WITH THE ERJ OCCURRED. HE SAID THE ERJ APPEARED TO BE DSNDING THROUGH 2500 FT AND TURNED AWAY AT THE LAST SECOND.
