Narrative:

During relief briefing, relieving controller descended aircraft X from FL210 to FL190 from over fwa. Aircraft Y was descending slowly from FL205 to FL180. The aircraft were on converging courses. I accepted situation with control vectors preplanned. Turned aircraft Y 20 degree right turn and slowed to 280 KTS. While attempting to turn aircraft X to a 010 degree heading, I was also 'thinking' of turning aircraft Y to a 090 degree heading. Instead of clearing aircraft X to 010 degrees, I said 090 degrees. Aircraft approximately 3.2 mi and 300 ft. Closest loss of separation. Turned aircraft X 360 degree heading and aircraft Y to a 120 degree heading. Expedited through FL180 to 12000 ft. What could be done in future? Voice concerns to controller being received instead of just taking the sector knowing something has to be done, don't rush.

Title: ZOB CTLR EXPERIENCES OPERROR AT FL190 IMMEDIATELY AFTER POS RELIEF.

Narrative: DURING RELIEF BRIEFING, RELIEVING CTLR DSNDED ACFT X FROM FL210 TO FL190 FROM OVER FWA. ACFT Y WAS DSNDING SLOWLY FROM FL205 TO FL180. THE ACFT WERE ON CONVERGING COURSES. I ACCEPTED SIT WITH CTL VECTORS PREPLANNED. TURNED ACFT Y 20 DEG R TURN AND SLOWED TO 280 KTS. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TURN ACFT X TO A 010 DEG HDG, I WAS ALSO 'THINKING' OF TURNING ACFT Y TO A 090 DEG HDG. INSTEAD OF CLRING ACFT X TO 010 DEGS, I SAID 090 DEGS. ACFT APPROX 3.2 MI AND 300 FT. CLOSEST LOSS OF SEPARATION. TURNED ACFT X 360 DEG HDG AND ACFT Y TO A 120 DEG HDG. EXPEDITED THROUGH FL180 TO 12000 FT. WHAT COULD BE DONE IN FUTURE? VOICE CONCERNS TO CTLR BEING RECEIVED INSTEAD OF JUST TAKING THE SECTOR KNOWING SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE, DON'T RUSH.
