Narrative:

After arrival in sat, it was determined that our duty time limit would be exceeded on the next leg. After talking to scheduling and operations, it was determined that the flight would be canceled and depart as a part 91 ferry flight. We received a taxi clearance to 'taxi to runway 30L via runway 3.' the captain and myself briefed the taxi clearance and noted that we must be careful not to cross the active runway 3L. As we taxied, I was performing my first officer duties and when I looked up, I realized we were crossing runway 30L. I told the captain, we continued across and advised ground control. Ground advised us to make a 180 degree turn and hold short of runway 30L. The ground controller then advised us that our mistake had not resulted in any problems. The mistake was almost entirely due to fatigue. Part 121 carriers should not be allowed to use part 91 rules to get around rest issues.

Title: B737 DEP FROM SAT TAXIED ACROSS DEP RWY WITHOUT ATC CLRNC.

Narrative: AFTER ARR IN SAT, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT OUR DUTY TIME LIMIT WOULD BE EXCEEDED ON THE NEXT LEG. AFTER TALKING TO SCHEDULING AND OPS, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FLT WOULD BE CANCELED AND DEPART AS A PART 91 FERRY FLT. WE RECEIVED A TAXI CLRNC TO 'TAXI TO RWY 30L VIA RWY 3.' THE CAPT AND MYSELF BRIEFED THE TAXI CLRNC AND NOTED THAT WE MUST BE CAREFUL NOT TO CROSS THE ACTIVE RWY 3L. AS WE TAXIED, I WAS PERFORMING MY FO DUTIES AND WHEN I LOOKED UP, I REALIZED WE WERE XING RWY 30L. I TOLD THE CAPT, WE CONTINUED ACROSS AND ADVISED GND CTL. GND ADVISED US TO MAKE A 180 DEG TURN AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 30L. THE GND CTLR THEN ADVISED US THAT OUR MISTAKE HAD NOT RESULTED IN ANY PROBS. THE MISTAKE WAS ALMOST ENTIRELY DUE TO FATIGUE. PART 121 CARRIERS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO USE PART 91 RULES TO GET AROUND REST ISSUES.
