Narrative:

After the captain said, 'flight attendants, prepare for takeoff,' a young man seated in xa got up and walked rapidly to the lavatory near door 3L. I immediately made a PA, telling him to situation down, but he went into the lavatory. I notified the captain who held the aircraft on the runway (we had not begun our takeoff roll). Flight attendant #2 knocked on the lavatory door, but the man refused to come out. After flight attendant #2 and I advised the captain, he opted to return to the gate. The passenger left the lavatory after about 2 mins. We were met by company security and massachusetts state police. They took the man off the airplane and he was subsequently arrested. The lavatory and his seat area were searched by maintenance and the bomb sniffing dog. The passenger's bags were removed and we departed approximately 1 hour late.
