Narrative:

I was giving flight instruction to a student in the alert area (A-291A) on the miami sectional. I just finished demonstrating 'emergency engine out' procedures to my student who is studying for private pilot. We started the maneuver at 2500 ft MSL, flying northwest using a dirt road as a visual mark to put down on in an emergency. I asked the student to perform the task -- he did. The plane was too low and too slow and I took the controls. We made contact with the ground (dirt road) and came to a full stop 4 mi west of A-291A. We had no injuries and sustained some damage to the aircraft. (Bend in propeller -- nosewheel steering plastic wingtip.) I should have recovered from the maneuver at a higher altitude. In the future, this task will be performed at a safer location and altitude.
