Narrative:

Repaired or replaced an elevator position transmitter on aircraft. After operations checking system, everything was found good per maintenance manual. Another mechanic said he would close up the panel. I told him to look at the part and make sure everything was secure. After I did the paperwork, he said everything was good. I didn't remember tightening down the micro-adjust torque rod screw and nut that attaches to the transmitter. I should have checked everything over myself before finishing paperwork.

Title: A B737-500 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH AN ELEVATOR POS SENSOR MICRO-ADJUST TORQUE ROD SCREW NOT TIGHTENED.

Narrative: REPAIRED OR REPLACED AN ELEVATOR POS XMITTER ON ACFT. AFTER OPS CHKING SYS, EVERYTHING WAS FOUND GOOD PER MAINT MANUAL. ANOTHER MECH SAID HE WOULD CLOSE UP THE PANEL. I TOLD HIM TO LOOK AT THE PART AND MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WAS SECURE. AFTER I DID THE PAPERWORK, HE SAID EVERYTHING WAS GOOD. I DIDN'T REMEMBER TIGHTENING DOWN THE MICRO-ADJUST TORQUE ROD SCREW AND NUT THAT ATTACHES TO THE XMITTER. I SHOULD HAVE CHKED EVERYTHING OVER MYSELF BEFORE FINISHING PAPERWORK.
