Narrative:

Upon selecting reverse thrust after touchdown, the left engine shut down accompanied by EICAS message 'left engine shutdown.' landing rollout was completed. Left engine egt was observed to be rising, so left fuel control switch was placed in cutoff. Egt decreased and taxi to gate was accomplished on the right engine. Reflecting on this occurrence, I think I should have used the pom qrc (which requires the fuel cutoff switch to be put to cutoff) rather than relying on memory to do this. Also, I should have had ground personnel verify a clean engine shutdown prior to taxiing to the gate.
