Narrative:

On jan/mon/04, we were taxiing from circle to runway 27R with a clearance to taxi to and hold short of runway 27R. At some time during the taxi, ground control tried to contact us which we never received any xmissions from ground, or any light gun signals from the tower. While we were holding short of runway 27R we reestablished communication by switching to our #2 transmitter, at which time ground control is not too satisfied with us. Then we were cleared to taxi across runway 27R and follow air carrier Y. When we got to the taxiway, that air carrier Y was on, we noticed a regional jet closely behind him at which time we decided it was not safe to taxi onto the taxiway behind air carrier Y, so we held for the regional jet and followed him. We called ground control and explained we were following the regional jet and that we would like to know why we were not told to hold short for the regional jet, and that an accident could have occurred. At this time ground control called back and told us he was getting very agitated with us and to follow the aircraft in front of us, which is now the regional jet. As the regional jet turns into the gate we asked ground if they wanted us to follow the regional jet to the gate or the air carrier Y airline to the runway at which time the ground control guy told me that he was very agitated and that if I pushed the issue I would lose. When I landed at my home town, I called to tower, told them to talk to the supervisor, review the tapes and call me. I recommend that they use light gun signals when they are in doubt about communications and I recommend that they maintain a professional attitude.

Title: ACFT WITH RADIO PROBS IS CRITICIZED BY ORD GND CTLR.

Narrative: ON JAN/MON/04, WE WERE TAXIING FROM CIRCLE TO RWY 27R WITH A CLRNC TO TAXI TO AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 27R. AT SOME TIME DURING THE TAXI, GND CTL TRIED TO CONTACT US WHICH WE NEVER RECEIVED ANY XMISSIONS FROM GND, OR ANY LIGHT GUN SIGNALS FROM THE TWR. WHILE WE WERE HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 27R WE REESTABLISHED COM BY SWITCHING TO OUR #2 XMITTER, AT WHICH TIME GND CTL IS NOT TOO SATISFIED WITH US. THEN WE WERE CLRED TO TAXI ACROSS RWY 27R AND FOLLOW ACR Y. WHEN WE GOT TO THE TXWY, THAT ACR Y WAS ON, WE NOTICED A REGIONAL JET CLOSELY BEHIND HIM AT WHICH TIME WE DECIDED IT WAS NOT SAFE TO TAXI ONTO THE TXWY BEHIND ACR Y, SO WE HELD FOR THE REGIONAL JET AND FOLLOWED HIM. WE CALLED GND CTL AND EXPLAINED WE WERE FOLLOWING THE REGIONAL JET AND THAT WE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY WE WERE NOT TOLD TO HOLD SHORT FOR THE REGIONAL JET, AND THAT AN ACCIDENT COULD HAVE OCCURRED. AT THIS TIME GND CTL CALLED BACK AND TOLD US HE WAS GETTING VERY AGITATED WITH US AND TO FOLLOW THE ACFT IN FRONT OF US, WHICH IS NOW THE REGIONAL JET. AS THE REGIONAL JET TURNS INTO THE GATE WE ASKED GND IF THEY WANTED US TO FOLLOW THE REGIONAL JET TO THE GATE OR THE ACR Y AIRLINE TO THE RWY AT WHICH TIME THE GND CTL GUY TOLD ME THAT HE WAS VERY AGITATED AND THAT IF I PUSHED THE ISSUE I WOULD LOSE. WHEN I LANDED AT MY HOME TOWN, I CALLED TO TWR, TOLD THEM TO TALK TO THE SUPVR, REVIEW THE TAPES AND CALL ME. I RECOMMEND THAT THEY USE LIGHT GUN SIGNALS WHEN THEY ARE IN DOUBT ABOUT COMS AND I RECOMMEND THAT THEY MAINTAIN A PROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE.
