Narrative:

While practicing maneuvers with a flight student, I noticed a C172 approaching our position. I took controls and did a climbing turn away. We were approximately 20 degrees away from the nearest victor airway, and our altitude and direction was constant at 9000 ft and a heading of 170 degrees. When I noticed the aircraft, we were traveling south, as it was moving west to east. Our altitude was changing constantly in our training practice areas, as well as heading.
