Narrative:

Flight was being taxied into the gate under guidance by the taxi director. A slow taxi speed had been reached in anticipation of stopping. The taxi director continued to signal forward movement and the aircraft contacted the jetway. Damage was to the left engine cowl at the approximately 1 O'clock position. Even as the aircraft was stopped in contact with the jetway, the taxi director continued to marshal us forward, not realizing, we had made contact. I never felt a jolt or bump and had no indication that we had collided with the jetway. The ensuing discussions with the ground personnel led to discovering the taxi director was trying to stop on another type of aircraft's stop point.
