Narrative:

ATIS reported winds 210 degrees at 7 KTS with a 3700 ft overcast. Approach requested 180 KTS to the marker and the crew complied. Upon GS intercept, it took approximately 15-20 degrees of correction to maintain the localizer. The tower immediately notified of windshear advisories upon check-in with surface winds 300 degrees at 15 KTS gusting to 30 KTS. The crew was barely able to meet stabilized approach criteria. I felt that ATC (approach control) was asking too much of this crew and the crew probably should have taken the initiative to say 'unable' to the speed request.

Title: B737 CREW ON RWY 31R ILS APCH INTO DFW WERE NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THE 180 KT SPD TO THE MARKER INSTRUCTION FROM ATC.

Narrative: ATIS RPTED WINDS 210 DEGS AT 7 KTS WITH A 3700 FT OVCST. APCH REQUESTED 180 KTS TO THE MARKER AND THE CREW COMPLIED. UPON GS INTERCEPT, IT TOOK APPROX 15-20 DEGS OF CORRECTION TO MAINTAIN THE LOC. THE TWR IMMEDIATELY NOTIFIED OF WINDSHEAR ADVISORIES UPON CHK-IN WITH SURFACE WINDS 300 DEGS AT 15 KTS GUSTING TO 30 KTS. THE CREW WAS BARELY ABLE TO MEET STABILIZED APCH CRITERIA. I FELT THAT ATC (APCH CTL) WAS ASKING TOO MUCH OF THIS CREW AND THE CREW PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE TAKEN THE INITIATIVE TO SAY 'UNABLE' TO THE SPD REQUEST.
