Narrative:

I was on an IFR flight dec/tue/03, from cvb to mqi. I was instructed to join V-189. Within approximately 5-10 mi from airport, we were still high. I asked ATC for lower. We were assigned lower (2000 ft) and assigned to fly a heading of 060 degrees. We advised ATC of airport in sight. We were instructed to stay on assigned heading for sequence. We were over ffa (first flight) when asked by ATC if we had traffic at our 3 O'clock position, to follow. We acknowledged we had traffic in sight and center cleared us for a visual to runway 23 at mqi. ATC was extremely busy and did not hand us to tower. When turning final, I called center and asked if we should contact tower. They acknowledged. We contacted the temporary tower at mri. I was fit in the sequence and landed. We found out from the FAA, on landing, we had flown in a parachute drop area in progress at ffa. The FAA inspector investigated and found it was caused by a communications failure to ZDC who vectored us through the area. The controller also had an extremely heavy workload with all the traffic.

Title: SR22 IS ADVISED BY MQI TWR OF PARACHUTE DROP AREA PENETRATION WHILE ON VECTORS FOR VISUAL APCH BY ZDC.

Narrative: I WAS ON AN IFR FLT DEC/TUE/03, FROM CVB TO MQI. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO JOIN V-189. WITHIN APPROX 5-10 MI FROM ARPT, WE WERE STILL HIGH. I ASKED ATC FOR LOWER. WE WERE ASSIGNED LOWER (2000 FT) AND ASSIGNED TO FLY A HEADING OF 060 DEGS. WE ADVISED ATC OF ARPT IN SIGHT. WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO STAY ON ASSIGNED HDG FOR SEQUENCE. WE WERE OVER FFA (FIRST FLT) WHEN ASKED BY ATC IF WE HAD TFC AT OUR 3 O'CLOCK POS, TO FOLLOW. WE ACKNOWLEDGED WE HAD TFC IN SIGHT AND CTR CLRED US FOR A VISUAL TO RWY 23 AT MQI. ATC WAS EXTREMELY BUSY AND DID NOT HAND US TO TWR. WHEN TURNING FINAL, I CALLED CTR AND ASKED IF WE SHOULD CONTACT TWR. THEY ACKNOWLEDGED. WE CONTACTED THE TEMPORARY TWR AT MRI. I WAS FIT IN THE SEQUENCE AND LANDED. WE FOUND OUT FROM THE FAA, ON LNDG, WE HAD FLOWN IN A PARACHUTE DROP AREA IN PROGRESS AT FFA. THE FAA INSPECTOR INVESTIGATED AND FOUND IT WAS CAUSED BY A COMS FAILURE TO ZDC WHO VECTORED US THROUGH THE AREA. THE CTLR ALSO HAD AN EXTREMELY HVY WORKLOAD WITH ALL THE TFC.
