Narrative:

Cruising at 6000 ft we had a TA coming directly for us at -200 ft. We asked ATC for deviation and were looking for traffic. ATC did not respond to us after the frequency change. We responded to an RA and advised ATC of our climb to 7000 ft and returning to 6000 ft clear of conflict. ATC did not respond immediately. 2ND try they asked if last controller called the traffic. We said no. ATC apologized and flight continued to destination.
