Narrative:

While holding short of runway 36 we were instructed by ATC tower to cross runway 36, make a 180 degree turn on taxiway H and hold short of runway 36 on the other side. While approaching the taxiway I questioned the captain if he felt comfortable with the turn. To my knowledge the taxiway H looked too narrow. In the middle of the turn it became obvious that we didn't have enough room to complete the 180 degree turn and the captain stopped the aircraft on the paved surface. I expressed my concern about being stuck but the captain without consulting with me decided to apply a little reverse in order to create few extra feet of space and possibly complete the turn. The main gear at this point went off the taxiway and got stuck just on the grass side of the taxiway shoulder. Both engines were shut down and the aircraft later deplaned. No aircraft damage was noted.

Title: FLT CREW OF ERJ-145 TAXI BOTH MAIN GEAR OF HARD SURFACE WHILE ATTEMPTING A 180 DEG TURN ON TXWY H AT DAY.

Narrative: WHILE HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 36 WE WERE INSTRUCTED BY ATC TWR TO CROSS RWY 36, MAKE A 180 DEG TURN ON TXWY H AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 36 ON THE OTHER SIDE. WHILE APCHING THE TXWY I QUESTIONED THE CAPT IF HE FELT COMFORTABLE WITH THE TURN. TO MY KNOWLEDGE THE TXWY H LOOKED TOO NARROW. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TURN IT BECAME OBVIOUS THAT WE DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH ROOM TO COMPLETE THE 180 DEG TURN AND THE CAPT STOPPED THE ACFT ON THE PAVED SURFACE. I EXPRESSED MY CONCERN ABOUT BEING STUCK BUT THE CAPT WITHOUT CONSULTING WITH ME DECIDED TO APPLY A LITTLE REVERSE IN ORDER TO CREATE FEW EXTRA FEET OF SPACE AND POSSIBLY COMPLETE THE TURN. THE MAIN GEAR AT THIS POINT WENT OFF THE TXWY AND GOT STUCK JUST ON THE GRASS SIDE OF THE TXWY SHOULDER. BOTH ENGS WERE SHUT DOWN AND THE ACFT LATER DEPLANED. NO ACFT DAMAGE WAS NOTED.
