Narrative:
On nov/sat/03, I was instructed to perform an operations check on the fdr on aircraft per flight data reorder job card XXXX, air traffic area 31-24. So I completed the operations check on fdr maintenance manual reference 31-24-011, signed the flight data reorder job card off as operations checks good per maintenance manual which completed the card. The problem occurred when the flight data reorder job card was issued, it simply stated to swap fdr's from aircraft and aircraft and did not state to download last 25 hours of flight time from aircraft's fdr. This is in violation of maintenance procedures manual 05-44.

Title: A TECHNICIAN RPTS SWAPPING FDR'S FROM 2 ACFT AND PERFORMING OPS CHKS PER THE JOB CARD. JOB CARD WAS FOUND IN CONFLICT WITH THE MAINT PROCS MANUAL.
Narrative: ON NOV/SAT/03, I WAS INSTRUCTED TO PERFORM AN OPS CHK ON THE FDR ON ACFT PER FLT DATA REORDER JOB CARD XXXX, ATA 31-24. SO I COMPLETED THE OPS CHK ON FDR MAINT MANUAL REF 31-24-011, SIGNED THE FLT DATA REORDER JOB CARD OFF AS OPS CHKS GOOD PER MAINT MANUAL WHICH COMPLETED THE CARD. THE PROB OCCURRED WHEN THE FLT DATA REORDER JOB CARD WAS ISSUED, IT SIMPLY STATED TO SWAP FDR'S FROM ACFT AND ACFT AND DID NOT STATE TO DOWNLOAD LAST 25 HRS OF FLT TIME FROM ACFT'S FDR. THIS IS IN VIOLATION OF MAINT PROCS MANUAL 05-44.
