Narrative:
Climbing out from mmu, I climbed above the class B floor before clearing the outer ring. Transponder was not in 'altitude' mode. It happened because I was focusing on navigation/communication chores. As soon as I realized the mistake, I descended to 2800 ft MSL until clear of class B, and switched transponder to 'altitude.' I had earlier made the same mistake climbing out of mtn (on my way to mmu) before clearing class B (potomac). Both were because of focus on IFR training. It will never happen again. I am practicing skill of dividing attention among competing needs.
