Narrative:

Flight was from pia to ikv. Forecast was for localized marginal VFR at destination. Actual conditions were IMC for last 10-30 mi. Reduced altitude to 500 ft AGL to retain visual ground contact and flew into ikv using GPS. Hold ATC flight following as far as quad-cities, but was reducing altitude from initial 4500 ft to below radar coverage. Went to VFR squawk from ia city on. Airspace east of ikv is class G. Visibility was probably down to 1 mi at destination. In retrospect, probably should have landed in grimmel, about 40 mi east of ikv.
