Narrative:

Ord tower cleared us for an immediate takeoff from runway 22L. Before we pushed up the power, we received a warning from our aircraft monitoring system, indicating a potential problem with one of our CRT displays. Because of our low speed (less than 40 KTS), we decided to abort the takeoff. I told tower our intentions to abort and exit runway 22L at taxiway Q. Tower then told us to hold short of runway 27L. As we completed our 90 degree turn onto taxiway Q we infringed upon the approach end and prior to the threshold of runway 27L. A B757 had to go around. One of the main factors in this incident was that there are no hold short lines on taxiway Q, nor any other markings indicating the clear area for runway 27L. There isn't enough room for the aircraft to clear runway 22L and yet remain short of runway 27L. The irregular procedure of aborting, getting reoriented to the airport, and tight spacing of our aircraft and the B757 were contributing factors.

Title: FLT CREW OF LGT REJECT TKOF AT LOW SPD FROM RWY 22L AT ORD. TURN OFF OF RWY CAUSES CONFLICT WITH ARR TO RWY 27L.

Narrative: ORD TWR CLRED US FOR AN IMMEDIATE TKOF FROM RWY 22L. BEFORE WE PUSHED UP THE PWR, WE RECEIVED A WARNING FROM OUR ACFT MONITORING SYS, INDICATING A POTENTIAL PROB WITH ONE OF OUR CRT DISPLAYS. BECAUSE OF OUR LOW SPD (LESS THAN 40 KTS), WE DECIDED TO ABORT THE TKOF. I TOLD TWR OUR INTENTIONS TO ABORT AND EXIT RWY 22L AT TXWY Q. TWR THEN TOLD US TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 27L. AS WE COMPLETED OUR 90 DEG TURN ONTO TXWY Q WE INFRINGED UPON THE APCH END AND PRIOR TO THE THRESHOLD OF RWY 27L. A B757 HAD TO GO AROUND. ONE OF THE MAIN FACTORS IN THIS INCIDENT WAS THAT THERE ARE NO HOLD SHORT LINES ON TXWY Q, NOR ANY OTHER MARKINGS INDICATING THE CLR AREA FOR RWY 27L. THERE ISN'T ENOUGH ROOM FOR THE ACFT TO CLR RWY 22L AND YET REMAIN SHORT OF RWY 27L. THE IRREGULAR PROC OF ABORTING, GETTING REORIENTED TO THE ARPT, AND TIGHT SPACING OF OUR ACFT AND THE B757 WERE CONTRIBUTING FACTORS.
