Narrative:

While conducting an IOE on the first officer, we were on final approach behind an A330 heavy. I asked the first officer to hand fly and stay slightly high on GS. (We previously experienced some bumps behind this aircraft.) first officer was right of localizer (wind was from the right) and high to avoid turbulence. We broke out of the overcast right, and slightly high into VFR conditions. Attention was focused on runway when slight wake turbulence from the A330 caused an increase in descent rate, resulting in a GPWS warning. We immediately corrected to a stabilized position and landed normally. The transient GPWS warning was a result of exceeding 1000 FPM rate of descent below 1000 ft AGL.

Title: A B737-400 CHK PLT GIVING IOE TO THE FO, PF, RPTED AN UNSTABILIZED APCH RESULTING WHEN FOLLOWING AN A330 INTO PHL.

Narrative: WHILE CONDUCTING AN IOE ON THE FO, WE WERE ON FINAL APCH BEHIND AN A330 HVY. I ASKED THE FO TO HAND FLY AND STAY SLIGHTLY HIGH ON GS. (WE PREVIOUSLY EXPERIENCED SOME BUMPS BEHIND THIS ACFT.) FO WAS R OF LOC (WIND WAS FROM THE R) AND HIGH TO AVOID TURB. WE BROKE OUT OF THE OVCST R, AND SLIGHTLY HIGH INTO VFR CONDITIONS. ATTN WAS FOCUSED ON RWY WHEN SLIGHT WAKE TURB FROM THE A330 CAUSED AN INCREASE IN DSCNT RATE, RESULTING IN A GPWS WARNING. WE IMMEDIATELY CORRECTED TO A STABILIZED POS AND LANDED NORMALLY. THE TRANSIENT GPWS WARNING WAS A RESULT OF EXCEEDING 1000 FPM RATE OF DSCNT BELOW 1000 FT AGL.
