Narrative:

We were cleared to push onto the taxiway, tail north. The ramp agent got confused and pushed the airplane at an angle that was not true north. There was an airplane under tow that was to follow us. Because we were not true north, the ground controller asked us to pull back in to gate area and allow the airplane under tow to pass, then push back on the taxiway tail south. This was not something you write a report on, but our ramp agents must listen closer to different push instruction and not try to pull the airplane forward with an engine running.
