Narrative:

My captain was flying and I was running checklists and scanning traffic. We had been given a 280 KT speed at a higher altitude, and then we were cleared to a lower altitude below 10000 ft MSL. ATC queried our speed and the captain then corrected because he had exceeded 250 KTS. Supplemental information from acn 598818: allowed airspeed to build up to approximately 270 KTS after leveling while looking for traffic. I attribute my error mostly to little flying time in the last 3 months.
