Narrative:

Incomplete sign off for aircraft log page. Aircraft was in for 'B/C' check on sep/sun/03. Day shops took over on the morning of sep/mon/03. During the inspection, they ('B/C' check) found evidence of a lightning strike. They worked the lightning strikes. Per non routine cards I was told the aircraft also needed a lightning strike inspection which was performed per maintenance manual 05-51-19, which covers the 'whole' airplane. No additional damage was found. I signed off the lightning strike inspection on log page for the 'whole' airplane per 05-51-19. Looking back, I should have made mention of certificate of worthiness since 'B/C' check had repaired lightning damage to the pressurized fuselage skin. I feel if maintenance wants the mechanics to sign off lightning strike inspection per a maintenance number, then one should be written to cover the 'whole' airplane instead of the way certificate of worthiness is written for the 'pressurized fuselage skin.'

Title: A B737-700 WAS FOUND IN A MAINT CHK TO HAVE FUSELAGE SKIN DAMAGE FROM A LIGHTNING STRIKE. REPAIRS MADE BUT NO LIGHTNING STRIKE INSPECTION OF ENTIRE ACFT ACCOMPLISHED.

Narrative: INCOMPLETE SIGN OFF FOR ACFT LOG PAGE. ACFT WAS IN FOR 'B/C' CHK ON SEP/SUN/03. DAY SHOPS TOOK OVER ON THE MORNING OF SEP/MON/03. DURING THE INSPECTION, THEY ('B/C' CHK) FOUND EVIDENCE OF A LIGHTNING STRIKE. THEY WORKED THE LIGHTNING STRIKES. PER NON ROUTINE CARDS I WAS TOLD THE ACFT ALSO NEEDED A LIGHTNING STRIKE INSPECTION WHICH WAS PERFORMED PER MAINT MANUAL 05-51-19, WHICH COVERS THE 'WHOLE' AIRPLANE. NO ADDITIONAL DAMAGE WAS FOUND. I SIGNED OFF THE LIGHTNING STRIKE INSPECTION ON LOG PAGE FOR THE 'WHOLE' AIRPLANE PER 05-51-19. LOOKING BACK, I SHOULD HAVE MADE MENTION OF CERTIFICATE OF WORTHINESS SINCE 'B/C' CHK HAD REPAIRED LIGHTNING DAMAGE TO THE PRESSURIZED FUSELAGE SKIN. I FEEL IF MAINT WANTS THE MECHS TO SIGN OFF LIGHTNING STRIKE INSPECTION PER A MAINT NUMBER, THEN ONE SHOULD BE WRITTEN TO COVER THE 'WHOLE' AIRPLANE INSTEAD OF THE WAY CERTIFICATE OF WORTHINESS IS WRITTEN FOR THE 'PRESSURIZED FUSELAGE SKIN.'
