Narrative:

On sept/thurs/03, I had just picked up a passenger from a current FBO at det in det, mi. Ground control was contacted and we were advised to taxi to runway 33. As we began to taxi, it was unclear where the hold short line for runway 33 was located. We checked our commercial airport chart, however no holding point was noticed. The only taxi sign that was visible was a runway 33 sign and the approach end of runway 33 could be seen approximately 50 ft in front of the aircraft. At this point ground control came back and said we just passed the runway hold short line for runway 33. The aircraft passed the hold short line by approximately 8 ft and the runway was still approximately 40 ft in front of the aircraft. There was no incursion to the runway or conflict with any aircraft. On the return trip to det, a faded hold short line was noticed between the ramp and the beginning of the runway 33 taxiway. I feel poor taxi signs and a faded hold short line in close proximity to the FBO ramp, was the cause of me taxiing past the line.
