Narrative:

At dekalb peachtree airport, GA, I was given departure taxi clearance 'taxi to runway 2R, hold short of runway 2L....' I began taxiing from FBO on the taxiway in front of the control tower (taxiway B) and instead of making the half right to pick up taxiway a, I missed the half right and continued straight ahead on taxiway B. I should have been approaching the intersection of runways 9/27, which were closed, but I was mistakenly approaching runway 2L. As I recognized what was happening, I began to stop and the ground controller called and said 'hold your position' which I had done and acknowledged. The ground controller then instructed me to taxi south on runway 2L to the first taxiway to the right, taxiway C, take it to taxiway a, and to continue taxiing on taxi a to the end of runway 2L, hold short of runway 2L and monitor tower. My aircraft was past the midfield hold short line for runway 2L on taxiway B, but had not entered the runway when I stopped because it didn't look right. In this area, txwys and ramp run together and are not easy to figure out. As I was taxiing out, the controller was communicating with another aircraft was perhaps distraction by that aircraft as I passed just below and in front of the tower. I was distraction by a blimp which was approaching the pdk airspace from the east, and by my passenger sitting in the copilot seat who was making several observations about the blimp's nose down attitude, and about the air conditioning system which was not providing cool-enough air to the cabin to suit him. There was no arriving or departing traffic on runway 2L when this event occurred. However, it was an active runway. I was mistaken about my exact position on the airport and that is the reason for this report.

Title: C441 PLT HAS A RWY INCURSION AT PDK.

Narrative: AT DEKALB PEACHTREE ARPT, GA, I WAS GIVEN DEP TAXI CLRNC 'TAXI TO RWY 2R, HOLD SHORT OF RWY 2L....' I BEGAN TAXIING FROM FBO ON THE TXWY IN FRONT OF THE CTL TWR (TXWY B) AND INSTEAD OF MAKING THE HALF R TO PICK UP TXWY A, I MISSED THE HALF R AND CONTINUED STRAIGHT AHEAD ON TXWY B. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN APCHING THE INTXN OF RWYS 9/27, WHICH WERE CLOSED, BUT I WAS MISTAKENLY APCHING RWY 2L. AS I RECOGNIZED WHAT WAS HAPPENING, I BEGAN TO STOP AND THE GND CTLR CALLED AND SAID 'HOLD YOUR POS' WHICH I HAD DONE AND ACKNOWLEDGED. THE GND CTLR THEN INSTRUCTED ME TO TAXI S ON RWY 2L TO THE FIRST TXWY TO THE R, TXWY C, TAKE IT TO TXWY A, AND TO CONTINUE TAXIING ON TAXI A TO THE END OF RWY 2L, HOLD SHORT OF RWY 2L AND MONITOR TWR. MY ACFT WAS PAST THE MIDFIELD HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 2L ON TXWY B, BUT HAD NOT ENTERED THE RWY WHEN I STOPPED BECAUSE IT DIDN'T LOOK RIGHT. IN THIS AREA, TXWYS AND RAMP RUN TOGETHER AND ARE NOT EASY TO FIGURE OUT. AS I WAS TAXIING OUT, THE CTLR WAS COMMUNICATING WITH ANOTHER ACFT WAS PERHAPS DISTR BY THAT ACFT AS I PASSED JUST BELOW AND IN FRONT OF THE TWR. I WAS DISTR BY A BLIMP WHICH WAS APCHING THE PDK AIRSPACE FROM THE E, AND BY MY PAX SITTING IN THE COPLT SEAT WHO WAS MAKING SEVERAL OBSERVATIONS ABOUT THE BLIMP'S NOSE DOWN ATTITUDE, AND ABOUT THE AIR CONDITIONING SYS WHICH WAS NOT PROVIDING COOL-ENOUGH AIR TO THE CABIN TO SUIT HIM. THERE WAS NO ARRIVING OR DEPARTING TFC ON RWY 2L WHEN THIS EVENT OCCURRED. HOWEVER, IT WAS AN ACTIVE RWY. I WAS MISTAKEN ABOUT MY EXACT POS ON THE ARPT AND THAT IS THE REASON FOR THIS RPT.
