On approach, I was instructed to report a left downwind for runway 21. I reported downwind and was told I was #2 to land and report seeing the #1 traffic. I did not see #1 traffic until it turned final. I was never told the #1 traffic was on a right downwind for runway 21. This made me question the ability of the tower operator. After landing, I turned off runway 21 and stopped at taxiway A5. I called ground on 121.7 and got no response. I switched back to tower on 120.1 and got no response. I checked for traffic very carefully and proceeded towards the terminal at a speed less than a slow walk. I called ground again on 121.7 and got a response as I approached A4 on taxiway a. The tower asked that I call the tower on the phone after parking. There was no ground traffic and only 1 aircraft in the pattern at the time. This is not a busy airport. It probably doesn't need a control tower. There was never a question of safety. During my phone call, the tower person was threatening, abusive, demeaning and not understanding at all. What should be improved: this person's response was counter productive. It degrades my confidence in air traffic control. This guy was on a power trip. We all need to work together to have a safe operating environment.

Title: GYR CTLR CHALLENGES C182 PLT EXITING RWY FOR TAXIING WITHOUT AUTH. PLT CONSIDERS DISCUSSION ABUSIVE.
Narrative: ON APCH, I WAS INSTRUCTED TO RPT A L DOWNWIND FOR RWY 21. I RPTED DOWNWIND AND WAS TOLD I WAS #2 TO LAND AND RPT SEEING THE #1 TFC. I DID NOT SEE #1 TFC UNTIL IT TURNED FINAL. I WAS NEVER TOLD THE #1 TFC WAS ON A R DOWNWIND FOR RWY 21. THIS MADE ME QUESTION THE ABILITY OF THE TWR OPERATOR. AFTER LNDG, I TURNED OFF RWY 21 AND STOPPED AT TXWY A5. I CALLED GND ON 121.7 AND GOT NO RESPONSE. I SWITCHED BACK TO TWR ON 120.1 AND GOT NO RESPONSE. I CHKED FOR TFC VERY CAREFULLY AND PROCEEDED TOWARDS THE TERMINAL AT A SPD LESS THAN A SLOW WALK. I CALLED GND AGAIN ON 121.7 AND GOT A RESPONSE AS I APCHED A4 ON TXWY A. THE TWR ASKED THAT I CALL THE TWR ON THE PHONE AFTER PARKING. THERE WAS NO GND TFC AND ONLY 1 ACFT IN THE PATTERN AT THE TIME. THIS IS NOT A BUSY ARPT. IT PROBABLY DOESN'T NEED A CTL TWR. THERE WAS NEVER A QUESTION OF SAFETY. DURING MY PHONE CALL, THE TWR PERSON WAS THREATENING, ABUSIVE, DEMEANING AND NOT UNDERSTANDING AT ALL. WHAT SHOULD BE IMPROVED: THIS PERSON'S RESPONSE WAS COUNTER PRODUCTIVE. IT DEGRADES MY CONFIDENCE IN AIR TFC CTL. THIS GUY WAS ON A PWR TRIP. WE ALL NEED TO WORK TOGETHER TO HAVE A SAFE OPERATING ENVIRONMENT.
