Narrative:

Initial approach controller (sweed 6 arrival) asked if we wanted runway 18R vice runway 18L. We said yes and reconfigured for runway 18R approach. Approach brought us up on east side of airport (not unusual for a runway 18R approach, but not the norm), switched to final controller, vectored to west, and told to intercept localizer. 1 mi prior to IAF, cleared for approach. Inside IAF, told to maintain 170 KTS until FAF for runway 18L. This got our attention. Controller then asked if we were told and cleared for the right. (TCASII indicated we were #4 in trail of company rj.) stated yes. He said he had just come on, but didn't think we were. Said he would pull tapes and asked if we were sure. Said I wouldn't bet on it at this point. No conflict, next aircraft was 11 mi behind. Position to other aircraft was normal throughout approach as viewed on TCASII. Landed uneventfully on runway 18R.
