Narrative:

On the morning of jul/thu/03, we were landing at casper (cpr). Upon a normal relatively smooth landing, the captain flying the airplane applied reverse power. We both felt a small bump, which could have easily been mistaken for a bump in the runway. Right after the bump occurred I saw pieces of rubber being thrown in front of the airplane and the right side of the airplane was shaking more than normal. Full reverse was applied by the captain as I said 'I think we blew a tire on the right main.' as we slowed the plane started to veer off to the right. Full left rudder and braking were applied as well as differential reverser power 100% on the left side. Control of the aircraft was maintained and we stayed on the runway as we came to a complete stop. After shutdown we observed that both right main tires had failed. The brake line had severed and the wheel rims were damaged. Because on landing no brakes were used except for reverse power, this was not caused by locking the brakes. We had plenty of runway available for rollout. During the preflight examination the tires did not look worn or have any bald spots on them. Supplemental information from acn 586407: 1 tire cap was found on runway intact in full circumference, no flat spots found indicating no locked brakes.

Title: SA227 CREW HAD A TIRE FAILURE ON LNDG. THE CREW WAS ABLE TO CTL THE ACFT WITH DIFFERENTIAL BRAKING AND REVERSE THRUST.

Narrative: ON THE MORNING OF JUL/THU/03, WE WERE LNDG AT CASPER (CPR). UPON A NORMAL RELATIVELY SMOOTH LNDG, THE CAPT FLYING THE AIRPLANE APPLIED REVERSE PWR. WE BOTH FELT A SMALL BUMP, WHICH COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN MISTAKEN FOR A BUMP IN THE RWY. RIGHT AFTER THE BUMP OCCURRED I SAW PIECES OF RUBBER BEING THROWN IN FRONT OF THE AIRPLANE AND THE R SIDE OF THE AIRPLANE WAS SHAKING MORE THAN NORMAL. FULL REVERSE WAS APPLIED BY THE CAPT AS I SAID 'I THINK WE BLEW A TIRE ON THE R MAIN.' AS WE SLOWED THE PLANE STARTED TO VEER OFF TO THE R. FULL L RUDDER AND BRAKING WERE APPLIED AS WELL AS DIFFERENTIAL REVERSER PWR 100% ON THE L SIDE. CTL OF THE ACFT WAS MAINTAINED AND WE STAYED ON THE RWY AS WE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. AFTER SHUTDOWN WE OBSERVED THAT BOTH R MAIN TIRES HAD FAILED. THE BRAKE LINE HAD SEVERED AND THE WHEEL RIMS WERE DAMAGED. BECAUSE ON LNDG NO BRAKES WERE USED EXCEPT FOR REVERSE PWR, THIS WAS NOT CAUSED BY LOCKING THE BRAKES. WE HAD PLENTY OF RWY AVAILABLE FOR ROLLOUT. DURING THE PREFLT EXAMINATION THE TIRES DID NOT LOOK WORN OR HAVE ANY BALD SPOTS ON THEM. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 586407: 1 TIRE CAP WAS FOUND ON RWY INTACT IN FULL CIRCUMFERENCE, NO FLAT SPOTS FOUND INDICATING NO LOCKED BRAKES.
