Narrative:

Discovered that maintenance had not performed all of MEL and had not disconnected the fuel summation unit. We had insured that we had the MEL on our release, that maintenance in ZZZ1 had put on a known quantity of fuel, form supplied and logbook was signed off properly. We had the same MEL on the same aircraft the day before and mistakenly assumed that this was the same write-up -- the fuel summation unit had been disconnected the day before. Guess we were wrong in trusting maintenance. We wrote this up in the logbook and maintenance met the aircraft in ZZZ.

Title: B737-400 MECH DID NOT DEACTIVATE THE FUEL TOTALIZER SUMMATION UNIT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MEL.

Narrative: DISCOVERED THAT MAINT HAD NOT PERFORMED ALL OF MEL AND HAD NOT DISCONNECTED THE FUEL SUMMATION UNIT. WE HAD INSURED THAT WE HAD THE MEL ON OUR RELEASE, THAT MAINT IN ZZZ1 HAD PUT ON A KNOWN QUANTITY OF FUEL, FORM SUPPLIED AND LOGBOOK WAS SIGNED OFF PROPERLY. WE HAD THE SAME MEL ON THE SAME ACFT THE DAY BEFORE AND MISTAKENLY ASSUMED THAT THIS WAS THE SAME WRITE-UP -- THE FUEL SUMMATION UNIT HAD BEEN DISCONNECTED THE DAY BEFORE. GUESS WE WERE WRONG IN TRUSTING MAINT. WE WROTE THIS UP IN THE LOGBOOK AND MAINT MET THE ACFT IN ZZZ.
