Narrative:

During airshow demonstration, I was blown over the 1500 ft crowd line during an aerobatic maneuver due to significant winds. There were shifting winds after a significant thunderstorm had passed through, less than 45 mins before, off of lake michigan. Winds on deck were approximately 120 degrees/10 KTS. Winds at 2000 ft were approximately 240 degrees/25 KTS. Winds at 4000 ft were approximately 240 degrees/40 KTS. All wind measurements were taken off of our GPS/INS in the tomcat. A more detailed WX brief of typical WX patterns for the area for pilots foreign to that airport may help to prevent any other occurrences. There were several other instances of airplanes having to abort maneuvers due to excessive wind during the airshow.

Title: AN F14D MIL PLT RPTED THAT WINDS WERE SO STRONG AT AN AIRSHOW THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO STAY WITHIN THE AEROBATIC BOX.

Narrative: DURING AIRSHOW DEMONSTRATION, I WAS BLOWN OVER THE 1500 FT CROWD LINE DURING AN AEROBATIC MANEUVER DUE TO SIGNIFICANT WINDS. THERE WERE SHIFTING WINDS AFTER A SIGNIFICANT TSTM HAD PASSED THROUGH, LESS THAN 45 MINS BEFORE, OFF OF LAKE MICHIGAN. WINDS ON DECK WERE APPROX 120 DEGS/10 KTS. WINDS AT 2000 FT WERE APPROX 240 DEGS/25 KTS. WINDS AT 4000 FT WERE APPROX 240 DEGS/40 KTS. ALL WIND MEASUREMENTS WERE TAKEN OFF OF OUR GPS/INS IN THE TOMCAT. A MORE DETAILED WX BRIEF OF TYPICAL WX PATTERNS FOR THE AREA FOR PLTS FOREIGN TO THAT ARPT MAY HELP TO PREVENT ANY OTHER OCCURRENCES. THERE WERE SEVERAL OTHER INSTANCES OF AIRPLANES HAVING TO ABORT MANEUVERS DUE TO EXCESSIVE WIND DURING THE AIRSHOW.
