Narrative:

Made precautionary landing at 42C. Airport is closed for runway enlargement. Landing surface was not disturbed. Area around runway has been evacuate/evacuationed. No work being done at time of landing. No one around at time of landing. Overflew runway 3 times to inspect condition of landing area. Determined to be safe for landing. Landed, inspected exhaust system to check for integrity and determined all was fine. (Had been noticing a hot smell and needed to check it out.) left airport for 30-45 mins, then returned. Note was left by someone that they would report my n-number to FAA. Departed runway with no problems, returned to home field with no further issues.

Title: A SUPER CUB PLT LANDED AT A CLOSED ARPT, 42C, LEFT HIS ACFT PARKED FOR ALMOST AN HR, AND CAME BACK TO FIND A NOTE THAT SOMEONE WAS TURNING IN HIS N-NUMBER TO THE FAA.

Narrative: MADE PRECAUTIONARY LNDG AT 42C. ARPT IS CLOSED FOR RWY ENLARGEMENT. LNDG SURFACE WAS NOT DISTURBED. AREA AROUND RWY HAS BEEN EVACED. NO WORK BEING DONE AT TIME OF LNDG. NO ONE AROUND AT TIME OF LNDG. OVERFLEW RWY 3 TIMES TO INSPECT CONDITION OF LNDG AREA. DETERMINED TO BE SAFE FOR LNDG. LANDED, INSPECTED EXHAUST SYS TO CHK FOR INTEGRITY AND DETERMINED ALL WAS FINE. (HAD BEEN NOTICING A HOT SMELL AND NEEDED TO CHK IT OUT.) LEFT ARPT FOR 30-45 MINS, THEN RETURNED. NOTE WAS LEFT BY SOMEONE THAT THEY WOULD RPT MY N-NUMBER TO FAA. DEPARTED RWY WITH NO PROBS, RETURNED TO HOME FIELD WITH NO FURTHER ISSUES.
