Narrative:

At approximately XA20 local time en route to freeport, bahamas, after departing fort lauderdale executive airport, ATC instructed us to cross padus intersection at 4000 ft. ATC would not provide vectors around a line of severe thunderstorms along our route of flight. Descending down to 4000 ft would have put us right into a severe cell which contained turbulence and heavy rain. In trying to avoid the severe WX, we were unable to meet the crossing restr. ATC radioed us before we were able to contact them ourselves to let them know we could not meet the crossing restr. After that occurred, ATC gave us a vector and handed us off to grand bahamas approach with no further action. The decision made by myself and the other crew member was in the interest of safety. Descending into the severe WX would have compromised the safety of the aircraft and passenger.

Title: C550 CREW ON FLT FROM FLL TO MYGF (GRAND BAHAMAS) ARE REFUSED VECTORS BY ZMA ARTCC AROUND A LINE OF SEVERE TSTMS ALONG THEIR RTE.

Narrative: AT APPROX XA20 LCL TIME ENRTE TO FREEPORT, BAHAMAS, AFTER DEPARTING FORT LAUDERDALE EXECUTIVE ARPT, ATC INSTRUCTED US TO CROSS PADUS INTXN AT 4000 FT. ATC WOULD NOT PROVIDE VECTORS AROUND A LINE OF SEVERE TSTMS ALONG OUR RTE OF FLT. DSNDING DOWN TO 4000 FT WOULD HAVE PUT US RIGHT INTO A SEVERE CELL WHICH CONTAINED TURB AND HVY RAIN. IN TRYING TO AVOID THE SEVERE WX, WE WERE UNABLE TO MEET THE XING RESTR. ATC RADIOED US BEFORE WE WERE ABLE TO CONTACT THEM OURSELVES TO LET THEM KNOW WE COULD NOT MEET THE XING RESTR. AFTER THAT OCCURRED, ATC GAVE US A VECTOR AND HANDED US OFF TO GRAND BAHAMAS APCH WITH NO FURTHER ACTION. THE DECISION MADE BY MYSELF AND THE OTHER CREW MEMBER WAS IN THE INTEREST OF SAFETY. DSNDING INTO THE SEVERE WX WOULD HAVE COMPROMISED THE SAFETY OF THE ACFT AND PAX.
