Narrative:

On a trip to frederick, md, from N14, I broke the ADIZ within 10 NM of the baltimore airspace. The basic misunderstanding was communication between approach and the aircraft. Initial contact was established with potomac approach, with appropriate squawk code. Later, handed off by suggesting further flight following with baltimore approach control. After contact with baltimore approach could not be established, we realized that we were going to penetrate the airspace. We took immediate action to correct it. Then, baltimore approach control called and said, 'I have a number for you to call.' we called that number once we got on the ground. After she gave us that number, we were given a squawk. We reached our destination airport safely.
