Narrative:

I taxied onto an active runway and an aircraft passed overhead missing my aircraft by about 50 ft. I did not see the aircraft until I was on runway. Slight rain shower at the time, I was preparing to tow another glider. In future operations I will make a 360 degree turn prior to all departures. Unicom was not in operation at this time.

Title: A GLIDER TOW PLT TAXIES ONTO RWY CAUSING A RWY INCURSION AS ANOTHER ACFT PASSES OVERHEAD BY 50 FT.

Narrative: I TAXIED ONTO AN ACTIVE RWY AND AN ACFT PASSED OVERHEAD MISSING MY ACFT BY ABOUT 50 FT. I DID NOT SEE THE ACFT UNTIL I WAS ON RWY. SLIGHT RAIN SHOWER AT THE TIME, I WAS PREPARING TO TOW ANOTHER GLIDER. IN FUTURE OPS I WILL MAKE A 360 DEG TURN PRIOR TO ALL DEPS. UNICOM WAS NOT IN OP AT THIS TIME.
