Narrative:

Encountered a serious wake turbulence event during short final at fll. We were following a B737 to landing on runway 9L, a visual approach. We were told to reduce to final approach speed at approximately 4 mi final. Accomplished that quickly and flew approach at approximately 130-135 KTS. Tower then informed us he was putting a B757 in position on runway 9L after the first B737 had landed. Our B757 lifted off when we were at 400 ft AGL. First officer announced the runway clear, and I called out landing. Hit strong vortices just prior to flare. Not fun. A lot of scared passenger. Tower should take this kind of problem into consideration when trying to cram more operations into every min of the day.

Title: B737 LNDG FLL EXPERIENCED WAKE TURB FROM DEPARTING B757 JUST PRIOR TO FLARE.

Narrative: ENCOUNTERED A SERIOUS WAKE TURB EVENT DURING SHORT FINAL AT FLL. WE WERE FOLLOWING A B737 TO LNDG ON RWY 9L, A VISUAL APCH. WE WERE TOLD TO REDUCE TO FINAL APCH SPD AT APPROX 4 MI FINAL. ACCOMPLISHED THAT QUICKLY AND FLEW APCH AT APPROX 130-135 KTS. TWR THEN INFORMED US HE WAS PUTTING A B757 IN POS ON RWY 9L AFTER THE FIRST B737 HAD LANDED. OUR B757 LIFTED OFF WHEN WE WERE AT 400 FT AGL. FO ANNOUNCED THE RWY CLR, AND I CALLED OUT LNDG. HIT STRONG VORTICES JUST PRIOR TO FLARE. NOT FUN. A LOT OF SCARED PAX. TWR SHOULD TAKE THIS KIND OF PROB INTO CONSIDERATION WHEN TRYING TO CRAM MORE OPS INTO EVERY MIN OF THE DAY.
