Narrative:

On may/tue/03, I was PIC of a piper comanche PA24-180, in an attempted landing at aurora state airport, or. The time was approximately XA30 pm local, VMC conditions prevailed. I selected gear down and observed a green light (for there is only a single gear status light for gear down) and proceeded to flare. I felt the gear collapse on touchdown, the propeller struck and the engine stopped. The aircraft came to a stop and I exited the aircraft. I had recently purchased the aircraft and received the aircraft logs and all required inspections had been accomplished. The only way I know to have prevented this occurrence would have been if the landing gear had not had an undisclosed defect.
