Narrative:
I was on departure out of teb on the teb 5 departure. I was assigned the SID, and was familiar with it, I thought. The way company X chart text reads, I thought I was to climb to 1500 ft, turn to 280 degree heading, then climb to 2000 ft. A little further along the text is the note to maintain 1500 ft until 4.5 DME. I started my climb upon reaching 1500 ft instead of waiting until 4.5 DME. I find the text in the company Y chart, SID easier to understand, because it says 1, then 2, then 3. I find company Y chart text goes 1, 3, 2, if that makes sense. Incidentally, I was departing runway 24.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PLT OF C525 CLBED TO 2000 FT PRIOR TO THE TEB 250 DEG RADIAL WHEN DEPARTING FROM RWY 24 ON THE TEB DEP.
Narrative: I WAS ON DEP OUT OF TEB ON THE TEB 5 DEP. I WAS ASSIGNED THE SID, AND WAS FAMILIAR WITH IT, I THOUGHT. THE WAY COMPANY X CHART TEXT READS, I THOUGHT I WAS TO CLB TO 1500 FT, TURN TO 280 DEG HDG, THEN CLB TO 2000 FT. A LITTLE FURTHER ALONG THE TEXT IS THE NOTE TO MAINTAIN 1500 FT UNTIL 4.5 DME. I STARTED MY CLB UPON REACHING 1500 FT INSTEAD OF WAITING UNTIL 4.5 DME. I FIND THE TEXT IN THE COMPANY Y CHART, SID EASIER TO UNDERSTAND, BECAUSE IT SAYS 1, THEN 2, THEN 3. I FIND COMPANY Y CHART TEXT GOES 1, 3, 2, IF THAT MAKES SENSE. INCIDENTALLY, I WAS DEPARTING RWY 24.
