Narrative:
I was dispatched in an aircraft which had what appeared to be an open write-up in the maintenance log. After speaking with maintenance control, they said it was to be repaired at the next maintenance base per our company airlines approved program/procedure. The maintenance item had been written up the previous day and the previous crew continued to fly it. This is consistent with the information I was given. However, when I reached pdx, the mechanic questioned the write-up and acted as if I had flown the aircraft with an open maintenance item. This left some question as to whether or not the aircraft was legal for dispatch. The write-up said 'yellow arc on torque gauge faded.' it was given a maintenance number indicating that maintenance had been notified, yet in pdx, they acted completely unaware. Supplemental information from acn 580656: maintenance control informed us that the aircraft was perfectly legal to fly to pdx, after a little miscom in the beginning.

Title: AN EMB120 FLT CREW IS PERPLEXED ABOUT A PREVIOUS OPEN WRITE-UP IN THE LOGBOOK THAT MAY HAVE ALTERED THEIR LEGALITY AND ACFT'S STATUS AFTER ARR IN PDX, OR.
Narrative: I WAS DISPATCHED IN AN ACFT WHICH HAD WHAT APPEARED TO BE AN OPEN WRITE-UP IN THE MAINT LOG. AFTER SPEAKING WITH MAINT CTL, THEY SAID IT WAS TO BE REPAIRED AT THE NEXT MAINT BASE PER OUR COMPANY AIRLINES APPROVED PROGRAM/PROC. THE MAINT ITEM HAD BEEN WRITTEN UP THE PREVIOUS DAY AND THE PREVIOUS CREW CONTINUED TO FLY IT. THIS IS CONSISTENT WITH THE INFO I WAS GIVEN. HOWEVER, WHEN I REACHED PDX, THE MECH QUESTIONED THE WRITE-UP AND ACTED AS IF I HAD FLOWN THE ACFT WITH AN OPEN MAINT ITEM. THIS LEFT SOME QUESTION AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THE ACFT WAS LEGAL FOR DISPATCH. THE WRITE-UP SAID 'YELLOW ARC ON TORQUE GAUGE FADED.' IT WAS GIVEN A MAINT NUMBER INDICATING THAT MAINT HAD BEEN NOTIFIED, YET IN PDX, THEY ACTED COMPLETELY UNAWARE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 580656: MAINT CTL INFORMED US THAT THE ACFT WAS PERFECTLY LEGAL TO FLY TO PDX, AFTER A LITTLE MISCOM IN THE BEGINNING.
