Narrative:

On climb out on the pit 5 departure, there was a discrepancy as to whether to turn on course after 1700 ft. The aircraft climbing before us climbed through 1700 ft, but continued runway heading. Climbing through 3500 ft, we were still runway heading. The tower told us to turn to a heading of 360 degrees and 5000 ft. We got into the previous aircraft's wake turbulence and inadvertently climbed to 5200 ft, but immediately corrected back to 5000 ft.
