Narrative:

As PF, the last known fix we were about to cross was binns, per the FMS. During descent approach check, the delro one arrival was noted, but not loaded. Upon attempting to load arrival, could not pull from database. When entering delro one from lrp FMS did not contain transition to iad. Thus, had to add manually. Since making entries we proceeded past mulrr without vectors. As we attempted to determine position using direct function on FMS, center queried us. They gave a 150 degree heading to join transition. By this time, FMS had 'dropped' our flight plan thus, we asked for vectors on transition to avoid any more heads down distractions in terminal area. Uneventful landing.
