Narrative:

I started reserve at XA00. I received a call from our scheduling department at XH45, notifying me of a trip that dutied in at XI00, but I wasn't required to sign in till 2 hours from notification per our contract. I signed in at XJ45 in atl. I rode a shuttle from atl to mcn and arrived in mcn at XL45 to position aircraft from mcn to dfw. I had to wait for the first officer to arrive from atl due to late notification from scheduling. She arrived at XM30 into mcn. I called our scheduling department and notified them that we were leaving mcn around XN00. I knew my 16 hours was up at XQ00 atl time, so we had to be on the ground in dfw by XP45 atl time. Since we were leaving mcn at XN00 and the flight time on the dispatch release was 2 hours 40 mins and the WX was clear for the entire flight, light winds aloft and no known ATC delays, I had reason to believe we could make the flight and be dutied out by my 16 hours under the known circumstances. We departed mcn at XL00 and encountered no WX en route, no ATC delays, but possible stronger winds aloft than what were forecasted. We arrived in dfw and I dutied out at XQ15 atl time. 15 mins past my 16 hours. Note: it was a position flight with no revenue passenger or cargo and was dispatched under far part 91. I am sending this report because I do fly for a part 121 air carrier. Note: the first officer started her reserve at XD00 atl time, so this didn't effect her.

Title: AN EMB120 PIC IS CONCERNED OVER EXCEEDING HIS SCHEDULED ON DUTY TIME OF 16 HRS BY 15 MINS DUE TO WINDS ALOFT AFTER TKOF IN A FERRY FLT FROM MCN, GA.

Narrative: I STARTED RESERVE AT XA00. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM OUR SCHEDULING DEPT AT XH45, NOTIFYING ME OF A TRIP THAT DUTIED IN AT XI00, BUT I WASN'T REQUIRED TO SIGN IN TILL 2 HRS FROM NOTIFICATION PER OUR CONTRACT. I SIGNED IN AT XJ45 IN ATL. I RODE A SHUTTLE FROM ATL TO MCN AND ARRIVED IN MCN AT XL45 TO POS ACFT FROM MCN TO DFW. I HAD TO WAIT FOR THE FO TO ARRIVE FROM ATL DUE TO LATE NOTIFICATION FROM SCHEDULING. SHE ARRIVED AT XM30 INTO MCN. I CALLED OUR SCHEDULING DEPT AND NOTIFIED THEM THAT WE WERE LEAVING MCN AROUND XN00. I KNEW MY 16 HRS WAS UP AT XQ00 ATL TIME, SO WE HAD TO BE ON THE GND IN DFW BY XP45 ATL TIME. SINCE WE WERE LEAVING MCN AT XN00 AND THE FLT TIME ON THE DISPATCH RELEASE WAS 2 HRS 40 MINS AND THE WX WAS CLR FOR THE ENTIRE FLT, LIGHT WINDS ALOFT AND NO KNOWN ATC DELAYS, I HAD REASON TO BELIEVE WE COULD MAKE THE FLT AND BE DUTIED OUT BY MY 16 HRS UNDER THE KNOWN CIRCUMSTANCES. WE DEPARTED MCN AT XL00 AND ENCOUNTERED NO WX ENRTE, NO ATC DELAYS, BUT POSSIBLE STRONGER WINDS ALOFT THAN WHAT WERE FORECASTED. WE ARRIVED IN DFW AND I DUTIED OUT AT XQ15 ATL TIME. 15 MINS PAST MY 16 HRS. NOTE: IT WAS A POS FLT WITH NO REVENUE PAX OR CARGO AND WAS DISPATCHED UNDER FAR PART 91. I AM SENDING THIS RPT BECAUSE I DO FLY FOR A PART 121 ACR. NOTE: THE FO STARTED HER RESERVE AT XD00 ATL TIME, SO THIS DIDN'T EFFECT HER.
