Narrative:

I was in violation of far 121.5003(B) by exceeding 8 hours flying duty (actual) in a 24 hour period. Trip segments were domestic and not scheduled to exceed 8 hours in 24, but due to a maintenance turn back, and resumption of the previously scheduled trip segments, the far (121.503(B)) was exceeded by 12 mins. Upon realization (by company), aircraft was diverted to nearest suitable airport and I was afforded an adequate crew rest period prior to proceeding on interrupted flight segment.
