Narrative:

Filed IFR from eyq -- psx -- crp -- 67R. Received clearance from houston TRACON on the ground at eyq after checking WX and NOTAMS. Checked current brownsville sectional, no indication of airport closed. Checked low altitude en route chart, no indication of airport closed. Called montgomery FSS to check NOTAMS, none reported for 67R. Inbound to airport, below 3000 ft MSL, lost contact with center. While approaching airport, tried to contact unicom on 122.9. Set up for left downwind for runway 15. There was a truck on the runway. Noticed no runway markings, centerline or numbers. Landed the airplane without incident. Was notified airport closed. There was no 'X' on the runway to indicate so. Relayed to a lear jet to request that they close our IFR flight plan with center, and to notify them that we had landed at runway 67R. Received verbal acknowledgement from the lear that our flight plan was closed. After learning of airport closure, contacted the owner of the flight school for guidance. He contacted montgomery FSS. Again, no NOTAMS were issued. However, the supervisor pointed to a note in the AFD regarding that the airport was 'closed indefinitely. Closed ss-sr.' I referred to my current AFD, and realized that it did, indeed, say that. If I had known the airport was closed, I would not have landed there, but would have landed mfe instead. Left 67R approximately XA00, and returned to eyq.
