Narrative:

On a routine approach to pit runway 28R ILS we received a TA from our TCASII system. The RA function is inhibited below 2000 ft AGL. In compliance with our company procedures, we executed a go around. In completing our required callouts and the captain communicating with ATC, we made a turn to 360 degrees as assigned, but do not recall an altitude assignment. Per our manuals, missed approach altitude will be set at 1000 ft above decision ht. With our altitude preselect alerter set to 5000 ft per the missed approach procedure, we initiated a climb. At 4700 ft, ATC queried our altitude and gave us a descent to 4000 ft. After being vectored back to the ILS and landing, we were given a phone number to call the radar room. This event was explained to the TRACON controller supervisor.
