Narrative:

We were cleared for the teterboro five departure from runway 24. I was the PF, we briefed the departure of fly runway heading until reaching 1500 ft, then turn right heading 280 degrees, maintain 1500 ft until passing teb 4.5 DME, then climb and maintain 2000 ft. 1500 ft was put in the altitude select box in the aircraft, however shortly after takeoff the PNF selected 2000 ft in the altitude select window before we captured 1500 ft, thus the flight director commanded a climb past 1500 ft. With the high rate of climb, 3000 FPM, we leveled at 2000 ft very quickly. At about the same time both myself and the PNF discovered what had happened. ATC called to say we had deviated from the SID and to descend back to 1500 ft, which we immediately did. No other aircraft had to be moved for us and we apologized for our error and ATC said no problem. I believe this could have been avoided had the PNF told me he was going to change the altitude selector to 2000 ft and that I should not have followed the flight director.

Title: CE650 FLT CREW HAS ALTDEV DURING DEP FROM TEB.

Narrative: WE WERE CLRED FOR THE TETERBORO FIVE DEP FROM RWY 24. I WAS THE PF, WE BRIEFED THE DEP OF FLY RWY HEADING UNTIL REACHING 1500 FT, THEN TURN R HEADING 280 DEGS, MAINTAIN 1500 FT UNTIL PASSING TEB 4.5 DME, THEN CLB AND MAINTAIN 2000 FT. 1500 FT WAS PUT IN THE ALT SELECT BOX IN THE ACFT, HOWEVER SHORTLY AFTER TKOF THE PNF SELECTED 2000 FT IN THE ALT SELECT WINDOW BEFORE WE CAPTURED 1500 FT, THUS THE FLT DIRECTOR COMMANDED A CLB PAST 1500 FT. WITH THE HIGH RATE OF CLB, 3000 FPM, WE LEVELED AT 2000 FT VERY QUICKLY. AT ABOUT THE SAME TIME BOTH MYSELF AND THE PNF DISCOVERED WHAT HAD HAPPENED. ATC CALLED TO SAY WE HAD DEVIATED FROM THE SID AND TO DSND BACK TO 1500 FT, WHICH WE IMMEDIATELY DID. NO OTHER ACFT HAD TO BE MOVED FOR US AND WE APOLOGIZED FOR OUR ERROR AND ATC SAID NO PROB. I BELIEVE THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED HAD THE PNF TOLD ME HE WAS GOING TO CHANGE THE ALT SELECTOR TO 2000 FT AND THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE FOLLOWED THE FLT DIRECTOR.
