Narrative:

I was contracted to prepare and ferry aircraft to ZZZ for inspection, avionic installation, and general cosmetic clean-up. The seller stated aircraft had not flown in about 6 months. Over 2 days, aircraft was checked in preparation for ferry flight. All system were function tested and found to operate normally. After 3 ground runs and taxi tests, aircraft was signed off for flight from XXX to YYY. Due to no radio status, a chase aircraft was provided to fly with L29 and perform all communications. We briefed the first leg and departed. Upon departure, I selected 'gear up' and system functioned normally. I then extended gear and again, normal 3 green lights. Then I retracted gear and started on course. First stop was to be BBB for fuel. Upon approaching AAA, I decided that, due to headwinds and low altitude cruise, I should stop there for fuel. I signaled chase aircraft and descended towards the airport. I selected flaps to approximately 15 degrees and, after extension, selected gear down. Both mains extended, but nose remained up and locked. Tried emergency system -- no change. I made 1 more circle and received green light signal from tower and landed. Nose rested on gear doors and camera pod. No other damage. Cause of nose gear failure still under investigation.
