Narrative:

Leaving sjc, got the load sheet from the operations agent. The takeoff weight was just below ATOG. The numbers on the load sheet were verified with the numbers from the flight attendants and the addition checked. Shortly after takeoff, we were notified that through passenger had mistakenly been omitted from the total passenger number. We had more passenger than we thought we had and we had just taken off just under ATOG -- taxi fuel. Upon further discussion we determined that we were 300 pounds overweight. I'm not sure what could have been done to prevent this other than having to count the passenger again. There was no reason to question the count, as the load sheet and the flight attendant numbers read the same. The operations agent forgot to add in the through passenger and the flight attendants miscounted. What a coincidence.

Title: A B737 FLT CREW IS CALLED BY DISPATCH AFTER TKOF AND NOTIFIED THAT THEIR PAX COUNT WAS OFF AND THAT THEY WERE 300 LBS OVERWT.

Narrative: LEAVING SJC, GOT THE LOAD SHEET FROM THE OPS AGENT. THE TKOF WT WAS JUST BELOW ATOG. THE NUMBERS ON THE LOAD SHEET WERE VERIFIED WITH THE NUMBERS FROM THE FLT ATTENDANTS AND THE ADDITION CHKED. SHORTLY AFTER TKOF, WE WERE NOTIFIED THAT THROUGH PAX HAD MISTAKENLY BEEN OMITTED FROM THE TOTAL PAX NUMBER. WE HAD MORE PAX THAN WE THOUGHT WE HAD AND WE HAD JUST TAKEN OFF JUST UNDER ATOG -- TAXI FUEL. UPON FURTHER DISCUSSION WE DETERMINED THAT WE WERE 300 LBS OVERWT. I'M NOT SURE WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE TO PREVENT THIS OTHER THAN HAVING TO COUNT THE PAX AGAIN. THERE WAS NO REASON TO QUESTION THE COUNT, AS THE LOAD SHEET AND THE FLT ATTENDANT NUMBERS READ THE SAME. THE OPS AGENT FORGOT TO ADD IN THE THROUGH PAX AND THE FLT ATTENDANTS MISCOUNTED. WHAT A COINCIDENCE.
