Narrative:

We were clear to taxi to runway 22L via right turn on taxiway a, A18, and taxiway D expect runway 22L for takeoff from the gate at the company ramp at ord. Once we were on taxiway D we were instructed to change to tower frequency. Tower control gave us the following instructions 'air carrier X go through the runway 27L pad into position and hold.' instead of following taxiway D all the way to runway 22L, I read back, 'into position and hold runway 22L air carrier X.' he corrected me by saying, 'go through the runway 27L pad.' never said hold short of runway 22L. As we were getting close to into position on runway 22L, tower instructed to 'hold position.' in the next 30 seconds we were clear to take off runway 22L. I read back 'clear for takeoff runway 22L air carrier X, and we have a question if you have the time.' he said, 'go ahead air carrier X.' 'sir we were clear to go into position and hold runway 22L before?' he answered, 'no you were told to hold short of runway 22L.' the only part of the clearance that I missed was to read back 'going through the runway 27L pad, which he corrected me when I read back the taxi instructions. The captain and myself never heard to hold short on runway 22L.

Title: MD82 CREW HAD A CLRNC READBACK, HEARBACK ISSUE AS THEY TAXIED INTO POS AND HOLD AT ORD.

AS WE WERE GETTING CLOSE TO INTO POS ON RWY 22L, TWR INSTRUCTED TO 'HOLD POS.' IN THE NEXT 30 SECONDS WE WERE CLR TO TAKE OFF RWY 22L. I READ BACK 'CLR FOR TKOF RWY 22L ACR X, AND WE HAVE A QUESTION IF YOU HAVE THE TIME.' HE SAID, 'GO AHEAD ACR X.' 'SIR WE WERE CLR TO GO INTO POS AND HOLD RWY 22L BEFORE?' HE ANSWERED, 'NO YOU WERE TOLD TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 22L.' THE ONLY PART OF THE CLRNC THAT I MISSED WAS TO READ BACK 'GOING THROUGH THE RWY 27L PAD, WHICH HE CORRECTED ME WHEN I READ BACK THE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS. THE CAPT AND MYSELF NEVER HEARD TO HOLD SHORT ON RWY 22L.
