Narrative:

#1 communication radio began picking up static in cruise. We advised center of possible hot microphone on frequency, we could hear center xmissions, but static always returned afterwards. No other aircraft reported problems, and no problems occurred with communication 2. Decided to ask passenger to turn off all ped's. Static ceased immediately and did not occur again on this or next flight. Suspect ped problem.

Title: MD88 CREW HAS STATIC ON THE #1 VHF COM RADIO. THE STATIC STOPPED WHEN THE PAX WERE DIRECTED TO TURN OFF THEIR ELECTRONIC DEVICES.
