Narrative:

After pushback from gate, instructed to taxi to runway 9R via taxiway P and taxiway Q. As traffic moved forward, we ended up behind a company B737 holding at taxiway Q, just short of the pad area. After being given several possible intervals, we were switched to tower. The B737 was cleared to runway 12 and we moved up on taxiway Q just short of the pad area. We were cleared to runway 9R and started a slow taxi to the runway. Ambient conditions were night VFR, with broken clouds and no moon. From our position, the taxi was diagonal across the pad area. Well short of either runway, I noted markings on the taxiway, and as I slowed to determine if they were ILS or runway hold short markings, the nose crossed the markings and the tower asked us to hold our position. There was an airplane on short final and I was moving slowly to not get to the runway before he landed. After the uneventful landing, tower cleared us onto runway 9R for takeoff with no further mention of the 'hold position' call. Separation was not lost on any airplane during this event.

Title: AT NIGHT, A B767 FLT CREW ACCIDENTALLY CROSSES RWY HOLD LINE.

Narrative: AFTER PUSHBACK FROM GATE, INSTRUCTED TO TAXI TO RWY 9R VIA TXWY P AND TXWY Q. AS TFC MOVED FORWARD, WE ENDED UP BEHIND A COMPANY B737 HOLDING AT TXWY Q, JUST SHORT OF THE PAD AREA. AFTER BEING GIVEN SEVERAL POSSIBLE INTERVALS, WE WERE SWITCHED TO TWR. THE B737 WAS CLRED TO RWY 12 AND WE MOVED UP ON TXWY Q JUST SHORT OF THE PAD AREA. WE WERE CLRED TO RWY 9R AND STARTED A SLOW TAXI TO THE RWY. AMBIENT CONDITIONS WERE NIGHT VFR, WITH BROKEN CLOUDS AND NO MOON. FROM OUR POS, THE TAXI WAS DIAGONAL ACROSS THE PAD AREA. WELL SHORT OF EITHER RWY, I NOTED MARKINGS ON THE TXWY, AND AS I SLOWED TO DETERMINE IF THEY WERE ILS OR RWY HOLD SHORT MARKINGS, THE NOSE CROSSED THE MARKINGS AND THE TWR ASKED US TO HOLD OUR POS. THERE WAS AN AIRPLANE ON SHORT FINAL AND I WAS MOVING SLOWLY TO NOT GET TO THE RWY BEFORE HE LANDED. AFTER THE UNEVENTFUL LNDG, TWR CLRED US ONTO RWY 9R FOR TKOF WITH NO FURTHER MENTION OF THE 'HOLD POS' CALL. SEPARATION WAS NOT LOST ON ANY AIRPLANE DURING THIS EVENT.
