Narrative:

We were being vectored for the ILS runway 9R at atl in IMC. Our vector was 360 degrees and altitude was 3500 ft MSL, approaching the final approach course from the south. As we approached the final approach course (about 1 mi west of tizzy), we hadn't received our turn to intercept the localizer from ATC. I asked the captain (who was PNF) to query ATC. Several xmissions were required before ATC knew who we were and where we were. By this time we were passing the final approach course for runway 9R and approaching the runway 8L localizer at atl (which was also in use). The controller advised us we were on the wrong frequency and gave us a new one. By the time we checked on with the new controller, we'd passed through runway 8L localizer as well. TCASII showed an aircraft +1700 ft above, but no RA or TA. The new controller climbed us to 4500 ft MSL and vectored us for an uneventful approach and landing on runway 8L at atl. We don't know if atl approach missed a handoff to the final approach controller, or if we did.

Title: CRJ200 MISSES TURN ONTO LOC AT ATL.

Narrative: WE WERE BEING VECTORED FOR THE ILS RWY 9R AT ATL IN IMC. OUR VECTOR WAS 360 DEGS AND ALT WAS 3500 FT MSL, APCHING THE FINAL APCH COURSE FROM THE S. AS WE APCHED THE FINAL APCH COURSE (ABOUT 1 MI W OF TIZZY), WE HADN'T RECEIVED OUR TURN TO INTERCEPT THE LOC FROM ATC. I ASKED THE CAPT (WHO WAS PNF) TO QUERY ATC. SEVERAL XMISSIONS WERE REQUIRED BEFORE ATC KNEW WHO WE WERE AND WHERE WE WERE. BY THIS TIME WE WERE PASSING THE FINAL APCH COURSE FOR RWY 9R AND APCHING THE RWY 8L LOC AT ATL (WHICH WAS ALSO IN USE). THE CTLR ADVISED US WE WERE ON THE WRONG FREQ AND GAVE US A NEW ONE. BY THE TIME WE CHKED ON WITH THE NEW CTLR, WE'D PASSED THROUGH RWY 8L LOC AS WELL. TCASII SHOWED AN ACFT +1700 FT ABOVE, BUT NO RA OR TA. THE NEW CTLR CLBED US TO 4500 FT MSL AND VECTORED US FOR AN UNEVENTFUL APCH AND LNDG ON RWY 8L AT ATL. WE DON'T KNOW IF ATL APCH MISSED A HDOF TO THE FINAL APCH CTLR, OR IF WE DID.
